inspiring photographer of the week: the western grads of 2010.

As I mentioned earlier, I recently graduated from the Western Academy of Photography. I just wanted to say a little congratulations  to all of my fellow graduates. Everyone worked incredibly hard to get to where they are and they definitely deserve some recognition.

Here are the websites that I could track down, for those who have made them.

Congrats grads! I wish you the best of luck in the future.

brittany.

A lifelong friend of mine celebrated her graduation yesterday. I had the pleasure of stopping by the festivities and snapping a few photos.

Between me, my sister, and Brittany and her brother she is the youngest of us to graduate. We are all so proud of her. Congrats Brittany, you looked beautiful.

caitlin.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending time with my friend Caitlin McDonagh. She is a very talented local artist, who unfortunately for me, will be moving to Calgary next month.

I have worked with Caitlin a few times, and she is always so much fun to shoot with. Here are a few photos from an afternoon with a dear friend:

You can check out her work here.

inspiring photographer of the week: jeff bark

A few days ago my friend and fellow photographer Chris Dowsett turned me on to the 500 Photographers Blog. The second post on the page (#060 of the #500 photographers) was Jeff Bark. His work is romantic, but very dark. Soft, but incredibly edgy. His models, mostly nude are eerily masked by objects or shadow lending to his story the anonymity of his subjects.

My favorite out of his three series so far (flesh rainbow, woodpecker and abandon) is woodpecker.

He created this whole scene in his studio, which includes an entire pond.

You can check out his stuff here: http://www.jeffbark.com/

Just a warning, his images are graphic, so if you are uncomfortable with nudity I’d skip this one.
